I've never dived before – can I still join?
Absolutely! If you have no experience at all, our "Discover Scuba Diving" (try dive) programme is ideal. No prior knowledge is needed. After a short introduction, you'll dive to shallow depths under the direct supervision of a certified instructor.
Can I just snorkel? What equipment do I need?
Of course! Snorkellers are very welcome on all our day trips and the dive sites are excellent for snorkelling too. Snorkelling equipment (mask, snorkel, fins) is included in the tour price. Just bring swimwear and sunscreen.
Are there age restrictions for diving and snorkelling?
There are no fixed age limits for snorkelling. For scuba diving the minimum age is 10 years (Junior Open Water Diver course). The maximum age depends on health and fitness.
Which dive certifications do you accept?
We accept all internationally recognised certifications from organisations such as PADI, SSI, CMAS, NAUI, BSAC and others. Please bring your certification card or a digital record (e.g. PADI app) to show your qualification.
Do I need to bring my own dive equipment?
No, full rental equipment (high-quality branded gear) is included in the dive trip prices. You're welcome to bring your own equipment if you prefer. Please let us know your equipment sizes when booking.
Are the dive sites suitable for beginners and experienced divers?
Yes, most of our popular dive sites around Phuket offer a wide range of conditions. We choose spots that provide both shallow, sheltered areas for beginners and deeper drift dives for experienced divers. We dive in small, matched groups (max. 4 divers per guide), suited to your certification and experience level.
How long do I need to wait after diving before flying?
According to Divers Alert Network (DAN) safety guidelines, you should wait at least 18 hours after your last dive before boarding a flight. For multiple dives over several days, waiting 24 hours is recommended. Please plan this carefully – especially important for long-haul flights.
Do you offer hotel transfers and where are the meeting points?
Yes, a free transfer to and from your hotel is included for most surrounding areas (Kamala, Patong, Bangtao). We'll confirm exact pick-up times with your booking. Scuba Quest Dive Center is located in Kamala, Phuket.
Do I need to be physically fit? Do I need a medical certificate?
You should be in normal good health. All participants are asked to complete a medical self-declaration form. For pre-existing conditions (e.g. asthma, heart problems, chronic illness) a current dive fitness certificate from a doctor is required for safety. If in doubt, please consult your GP before travelling.
What's included in the day trip prices and what extra costs are there?
Our prices cover: transfer, full equipment, tanks & weights, lunch, water/soft drinks and a professional dive guide. Not included: national park entry fees (e.g. Similan Islands, where applicable) and optional tips.
What marine life can I see around Phuket?
The waters around Phuket offer incredible biodiversity. Common sightings include sea turtles, leopard sharks, various ray species, schools of barracuda, and colourful nudibranchs and reef fish. With some luck you may also encounter whale sharks or manta rays – most likely on Similan safaris between November and April.
Do I need dive insurance?
Dive insurance is not mandatory but strongly recommended. We suggest purchasing a policy that covers hyperbaric (recompression chamber) treatment. DAN (Divers Alert Network) offers affordable dive-specific travel insurance and is widely used by divers worldwide. The nearest recompression chamber to Phuket is at Bangkok Hospital Phuket.
