Frequently Asked Questions – Dive Safaris

What's the difference between a dive safari and a day trip?

On a dive safari you sleep on board and dive over several days. This allows up to 4 dives per day – including night dives – and gives you access to remote top spots like Richelieu Rock and the Surin Islands that are out of reach for day trippers.

What cabin categories are available on board?

Most safari boats offer various cabin categories – from cosy shared cabins to comfortable double cabins with en-suite bathrooms. Please let us know your preference when enquiring and we'll find the right option for you.

What meals are included on board?

The safari includes full board: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks between dives. Water, coffee, tea and juices are available free of charge around the clock. Alcoholic drinks are available for a small extra charge.

What experience level is required for a dive safari?

Our safaris are suitable for all certification levels. Depending on the route, we recommend at least an Open Water certification. For more demanding spots such as Richelieu Rock or drift dives, some experience is an advantage. Our guides always tailor the dives to your level.

When is the best season for dive safaris?

The dive safari season in the Andaman Sea runs from November to April. During this period conditions are ideal: calm seas, excellent visibility and the highest chance of whale shark and manta ray sightings.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

No, full rental equipment is included in the safari price. If you have your own gear you're welcome to bring it. Please let us know your equipment sizes when booking.

How many divers are on a safari?

Group sizes vary depending on the boat. We make sure dive groups stay small – typically max. 4–5 divers per guide – so everyone gets the best possible attention underwater.
